Dairy Managment Degree at Michigan State University
Because dairy farming is among the leading agricultural enterprises in Michigan, the Dairy Management Program has been developed to meet the specialized needs of the herd manager and commercial dairy farmer. Opportunities abound for persons with classroom training and practical experience. Areas of study include, dairy herd management, nutrition, artificial insemination, crops, and farm management. Job training may be obtained from one of the many cooperative dairy farms in Michigan and neighboring states.
Programs of study are tailored to the individual’s educational goals. Additionally, students are made aware of the continuing changes in rural living which have a great influence on agriculture.
This technical training program consists of two 15-week semesters and one 9-week semester on campus for a total of 48 credits. A certificate is granted at the completion of the program requirements.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Career placement is available on many Michigan and other United States dairy farms. Opportunities also exist to become part-owners of dairy operations or work for a dairy related business.
Students from dairy farms and those interested in dairy farming as a career, can improve or acquire technical skills to meet the demands of the dairy industry.
