Multimedia is about conveying information as effectively as possible through the integrated use of different media. Multimedia Computing at Aston combines the principles of computing with the tools and skills necessary for working with multimedia. The link between multimedia and computing science is emphasised and illustrated throughout the programme.
You will learn new and interesting ways to combine text, still and moving images, sound and computer animation into software applications and make them accessible through the Internet, CD, DVD and broadcast media.

Career prospects continue to be strong for our computing scientists with their sound understanding of the principles and practical applications of computing. The majority of our graduates find stimulating and rewarding positions in computingrelated activities with suppliers and users or within a wide range of careers for which a university degree is a prerequisite e.g. programmer, systems analyst, systems engineer or teacher.
The destination statistics for graduation year 2006 (the most recent study) state that 79% of Aston Computing Science graduates entered graduate-level employment within six months of graduation. The UK average for the subject area last year was around 65%.

To provide a thorough theoretical and practical training in the fundamental principles and practices of Chemistry. We recognise the need for practising chemists to possess strong tactile and manipulative skills, and therefore we focus on the development of subject confidence and competence through ‘hands-on’ experience. Our novel areas of research allow us to place special emphasis on and introduce you to exciting elements like Speciality Polymers, Biopolymers, Liquid-crystals and Electro active Organic and Inorganic Materials. A research project in the final year helps develop initiative, independence of thought, self-reliance, and team-work skills and fosters the ability to reason and communicate your ideas with confidence.
Entry Information
If curriculum or timetabling restraints mean that you are unable to take a full range of A2/AS levels, you should indicate this in the Personal Statement on your UCAS form. You should also ask your Confidential Referee to mention this in his/her reference.
Specific Subject Requirements:
A2 Level: Chemistry Grade C. General Studies accepted.
GCSE: English and Mathematics grade C, together with any other specific qualification required by the other Combined Honours subject you have chosen.
We welcome the development of the Key Skills qualification. We look for evidence of Key Skills at Level 3 and will take this into account when deciding whether to make a conditional offer and at confirmation. However, we will not make Key Skills an essential entry requirement at present, as this may disadvantage able students who do not have the opportunity to gain the qualification. Key Skills will also not be included within any points offer.
Applicants offering alternative qualifications (IB, EB, Access etc.) will be considered. Mature students are encouraged to apply and will be considered on individual merit
